Wonderful Citrus is seeking an Utilities Technicianits Delano, CA location. Ideal candidates will repair and maintain industrial equipment and utilize knowledge and experience in a mechanical or facilities trade in Ammonia refrigeration, compressed air, water systems, steam and electrical components. Position will be responsible for setting up, examining, troubleshooting and repairing equipment and continually providing preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


With little or no supervision:


  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and visually and audibly assesses their operation to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles malfunctioning systems and devices to gain access to, remove, and replace defective parts.
  • Tests components using electrical, mechanical and pneumatic testing equipment.
  • Documents all work done on work orders per established procedures.
  • Starts system, observes operation, read gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms, such as valves, controls and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure and temperature in the system.
  • Will document and inform Lead, Supervisor or Manager of potential problems related to daily and weekly log sheet recordings.
  • Will maintain and service screw and reciprocating compressors, recirculation pumps and associated control systems.
  • Maintain a safe environment by following regulations and plant safety requirements.


With supervision:


  • Will develop, schedule and perform Preventative Maintenance schedules for Facilities and Utility systems and processes.
  • Maintain all necessary paperwork associated with the PSM program


  • Manages outside contractors’ work as needed in Utility systems.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able and willing to work all shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-out, as required. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must obtain and maintain 40-hour HAZMAT certification and operate as a first responder in HAZMAT situations. Must maintain grooming standards necessary to use an air purifying respirator and or a self-contained breathing apparatus.   • Typical Maintenance Mechanic IV will have at least one (1) year maintenance experience in a manufacturing/food processing environment.
  • 2-4 years Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration and Steam Boiler Operations. General knowledge or all typical facilities utility systems (i.e. water systems, compressed air systems, steam systems, refrigeration systems, etc.)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Trade school/occupational training desired but not required.
  • Must be RETA CARO certified and be RETA CIRO certified within one year of being hired.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English. Conversational Spanish is desired but not required.

  • Prefer RETA level 1-4 training, or GCAP operator 1,2 training certs.
